World of Warcraft: одна строка кода, чтобы потерять все

Чем это опасно?

Для того, чтобы понять цель этой команды, нужно знать что в WoW есть возможность общаться с помощью скрытого канала (локально и удаленно). Этот канал установлен через использование событий “CHAT_MSG_ADDON”.
Сценарий создает фрейм (строка 2), к которому можно установить различные свойства. Сценарий регистрирует события CHAT_MSG_ADDON с конкретным префиксом (строка 6 и 25). Только тот, кто знает выбранный префикс, может тайно управлять интерфейсом жертвы. Это все равно что пароль для бэкдор.
Каждый раз, когда угнанный интерфейс получает CHAT_MSG_ADDON, событие с секретным префиксом, код будет выполняться тихо и без ведома жертвы.
Вывод: пока злоумышленник не решит Вам показать, что происходит, Вы, к сожалению, про это не узнаете.
Даже при том, что речь идет о дополнениях, которые могут связаться через скрытый канал, у жертвы не обязательно должны быть установлены дополнения, чтобы атаки прошла успешно.
Какой вред может быть причинен?
В виду того, что злоумышленник будет иметь полный доступ к интерфейсу жертвы, он может собрать полную информацию про него. Но взломщик не сможет собрать какую-либо подробную информацию о других игроках. В WoW игроки имеют возможность делится/продавать предметы друг другу. Если злоумышленник знает местонахождение персонажа жертвы и находится в пределах досягаемости, он может удаленно открыть окно торговли и передать себе золото, предметы и все, что можно передать. Практически ограбить жертву.
Описанный сценарий демонстрирует социальную атаку на ряду с технической. Теперь хакер может с помощью жертвы отправлять убедительные сообщение ее друзьям, коллегам и другим игрокам, с которыми тесно общается персонаж, тем самым увеличивая количество захваченных персонажей.
Как можно себя защитить?
Ответ простой и очевидный: не нужно вводить такого рода команду или любую другую, которая будет предложена даже Вам давнишним другом.
В данном примере мы говорили об атакующем персонаже в игре, кто принадлежал к популярной гильдии. Но по факту он не принадлежал к этой гильдии. Он выбрал известную гильдию и скопировал имя, заменив “L” на “I”. Возможно, Вы уже знакомы с такими методом фишинг-атак.
Кроме того, будьте осторожны при загрузке дополнений используйте защищенные и популярные веб-сайты, сохраните свои дополнения, чтобы их можно было в любой момент заменить. Возможно, что некоторые из этих обновлений могут уже содержать вредоносный код. Подобная проблема была замечена в 2014, когда так называемый “ElvUI Backdoor” был обнаружен в одном из дополнений.
Сам глюк может быть исправлено только Blizzard. Они должны убедиться, что перезапись такой функции будет невозможен в дальнейшем. Blizzard уже выпустили предварительный релиз для предстоящего дополнения «Legion». В данном дополнении они учли обсуждаемый тут сценарий и добавили предупреждение перед отправкой сообщения, которое содержит вредоносный характер.
Выбор “Yes” отключает сообщение навсегда, даже перезапуск не вернет его – по этой причине вопрос нельзя считать решенным. Чтобы повторно активировать данное сообщение, нужно вручную удалить одну строку кода в конфиг-файле.
Transmogrification
The transmogrification interface
Transmogrification (commonly referred to as transmog, tmog, xmog or simply mog) provides the ability to replace the appearance of your armor and weapons with those of other items, or to hide certain pieces of armor.
When a player earns or equips an item suitable for their class, the appearance of the item is added to their Appearances collection. Valid items whose appearance the player has not yet collected are highlighted in their tooltips. All soulbound items are automatically added to the player’s transmog collection, as well as all quest rewards from completed quests, even if the player did not choose that reward.
By visiting special NPCs, players can browse all available transmogs for any item currently equipped, and replace its appearance with the chosen transmog. Transmogrifying an item costs a variable sum of gold, but can be reverted for free. Hiding armor is also free.
Transmogrification has a number of restrictions, and not all items or pairings can be transmogged. Most importantly, the character must be able to equip both items, armor must be of the same armor type, and weapons must use the same attack style. [1] [2]

Transmogrifying
To transmogrify gear, visit a transmogrifier NPC:

[ Deployable Attire Rearranger ] also allows cheap and portable transmogrification services.
Right-click on the NPC. You will be presented with the transmogrification interface, which shows your current equipment, similar to the standard character equipment window. Selecting any item will display in the right hand pane all alternate appearances collected for that item. Appearances selected will be immediately previewed in the character pane.
Once you are happy with the appearance, press ‘Apply’ to apply all selected transmogs (and/or reversions), for the stated price in gold.
The cost to transmogrify any item is its vendor value, with a minimum of 1 
at level 90. Lower-level characters have an adjusted minimum cost.
If you don’t want to perform the transmogrification, simply close the window or walk away.
Obtaining transmogs
Subject to certain restrictions, gear from nearly any source can be used to transmogrify, such as: world drops, quest rewards, badge vendors, and crafting.
Collecting appearances is one reason to run old content such as raids. World events often reward special items intended for transmog, as do various game elements such as professions. The auction house is also a good source, though desirable items may command high prices.
For the dungeon sets 1 and 2 from Vanilla, which are no longer obtainable, you can buy replicas from vendors at the Darkmoon Faire. These items were specifically made available for transmogrification.

What follows is our current list of rules for transmogrification. This is a set of rules that we expect to change over time, and is not intended to be 100% comprehensive, but we hope that it can be referenced to answer most questions that players currently have about what they can and cannot expect to be able to do with transmogrification.
Weapon compatibilities
In general when transmogrifying weapons, target and source have to be of the same type. However, this restriction has been relaxed in certain ways since the introduction of Transmogrification. As stated at the beginning of the article, the player in question must be able to use the source and the target; this also includes being the appropriate level for using an item. For example, a druid can equip a polearm or a staff, and transmog one into the other. However a mage cannot transmog their staff into a polearm because they cannot equip polearms.

This leaves daggers, fist weapons, wands, shields and off-hand items as incompatible to other weapon types.

Hidden transmog
There are items that are unlocked by default in the transmogrification UI that can be used to hide a specific piece. It is currently not possible to hide the leggings.
Transmogrification set
A transmogrification set or transmog set, more broadly categorized as a vanity set, is a group of items of the same armor type designed with the same visual style and spanning at least two armor slots. A character wearing the set or a transmogrification of the set will tend to have a consistent appearance, so they are often collected purely for this purpose. They should not be confused with gameplay-affecting armor sets, which grant set bonuses when worn together.
«Transmog set» may also refer to any group of items to which a player has (or had, or intends to have) his or her gear transmogrified. This may range from a true vanity set designed by Blizzard artists, a mix of items custom selected to achieve an unusual in- or out-of-universe look, or a simple grab-bag of preferred items with little regard given to matching or composition.

We’ve traveled vast spaces between worlds, through the Twisting Nether, collecting knowledge and provisioning what we can to arrive at our destination, the remains of the once great planet, K’aresh, to salvage what we can of Ethereal technology. Among the dark cold emptiness of a once thriving world, we found what we sought.
By participating in various PvE/PvP activities (killing bosses, doing PvP) players have a chance to obtain a Scroll of Deception which allows them to extract the visual appearance of an item and store it in an essence which contains that appearance. Once the essence is used the appearance of it fuses with the item of your choosing as long as it’s the same type of item. Once the essence is used, it is consumed.
Players can also make use of a ‘Scroll of Purification’, a cursed parchment that holds Void magic and devours all Ethereal technology from the transmogrified item, leaving only the original appearance.
By persistence and valor, players can also be fortunate to procure a more powerful version of the scroll. Scroll of Illusion, which will allow them to extract the appearance of legendary items.
Transmogrification, as a feature, is optional and can be turned off on our website by a simple toggle. The support for turning it off will be implemented in the coming days. It remained as one of the highest requested features by the community on our Wrath of the Lich King realms over the years and we’ve decided to implement it in a way that doesn’t change the gameplay or bother players that don’t prefer it.
The process of transmogrification is fairly simple and you can see below how to do it in a matter of seconds:
Transmogrified Set Bonus items are shown as not equiped but the set bonus will work, its just a visual issue and can not be fixed due to client limitations.
