Рассказываю и показываю, как намыливать эту оперу и как растянуть удовольствие, работая с разделом Practical English)) Не растягивания единого ради, а пользы для! А еще покажу одно из моих любимых орудий пытки труда.
Practical English в учебнике English File 3 Edition
В учебнике English File 3 Edition есть чудесный раздел Practical English. Помимо истории Дженни и Роба и какой-никакой интриги, здесь есть функциональные диалоги на любой случай:
Очень нужная штука сама по себе, к тому же эстетично оформленная. О, как я пищала от восторга, когда перешла со старой редакции учебника на новую, и дурацкие Элли и Марк в пустой студии сменились на новых героев в естественной среде обитания – на улицах, в кафе, в гостинице.
Но речь не об этом)) Я вообще-то зашла показать, как мы намыливаем работаем с видео и диалогами из Practical English! Теми, которые обычно идут в серединке разворота, exercise 3.

Unit 1 Substitution Drills

Teach Your Child to Read Today!
Reading is one of the most important skills one must master to succeed in life. It helps your child succeed in school, helps them build self-confidence, and helps to motivate your child. Being able to read will help your child learn more about the world, understand directions on signs and warnings on labels, allow them to discover reading as an entertainment, and help them gather information.
At what age can you start teaching a child to read? When they’re babies? At 2 years old, 3, 4, or 5 years old, or wait until they’re in school?
If you delay your child’s reading skill development until he or she enters school, you are putting your child at risk.
Did you know that 67% of all Grade 4 students cannot read at a proficient level! According to the National Assessment of Educational Progress, of those 67%, 33% read at just the BASIC level, and 34% CANNOT even achieve reading abilities of the lowest basic level!
There is a super simple and extremely effective system that will even teach 2 and 3 year old children to read.
This is a unique reading program developed by two amazing parents and reading teachers, Jim and Elena, who successfully taught their four children to read before turning 3 years old. The reading system they developed is so effective that by the time their daughter was just 4 years 2 months old, she was already reading at a grade 3 level. They have videos to prove it.
Their reading system is called Children Learning Reading, and it is nothing like the infomercials you see on TV, showing babies appearing to read, but who have only learned to memorize a few word shapes. This is a program that will teach your child to effectively decode and read phonetically. It will give your child a big head start, and allow you to teach your child to read and help your child develop reading skills years ahead of similar aged children.
This is not a quick fix solution where you put your child in front of the TV or computer for hours and hope that your child learns to «read». somehow.
This is a reading program that requires you, the parent, to be involved. But the results are absolutely amazing. Thousands of parents have used the Children Learning Reading program to successfully teach their children to read.

CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) – это одна из ведущих мировых квалификаций. Окунувшись в курс, с первого дня голова идёт кругом от информации. Знание терминологии намного облегчит процесс обучения. Мы поможем подготовиться заранее.
Итак, вначале разберемся с аббревиатурами и терминами, которые могут встретиться в course syllabus, планах уроков, комментариях тьюторов к планам урока.
TP — teaching practice
В течение курса тренеры оценивают два основных компонента:
Программа курса CELTA включает 6 часов практики преподавания языка под руководством тренеров (assessed teaching practice) с последующим анализом и коллективным обсуждением проведенных уроков. Уроки надо проводить студентам двух уровней, низких- Elementary или Pre-Intermediate и высоких — Intermediate или Upper-Intermediate.
LP — lesson plan
Как уже было написано выше, кандидатов оценивают не только по тому, как они проводят уроки, но и как они их планируют. Надо знать:
TTT и STT
Цель любого студента на уроке английского – научиться говорить. Для этого надо чтобы меньше говорил учитель, то есть сократить время говорения учителя, teacher talking time, и увеличить время говорения студента, student talking time. Один из способов сокращения TTT — отсутствие echoing, когда учитель повторяет то, что говорят ученики.
ICQs и CCQs
Помимо того, сколько говорит, каждый учитель контролирует и что он говорит. ICQs (instruction checking questions) и CCQs (concept checking questions) – лучшие варианты проверки понимания инструкций, лексики и грамматики студентами вместо вопросов “Do you understand?” или «Is that clear?», на которые ученики автоматически отвечают «Yes», даже если ни капли не поняли.
MFP – Meaning, Form, and Pronunciation
MFP – три важные аспекта проработки новой лексики и грамматики. Для более эффективного усвоения target language студенты должны знать значение (чтобы правильно использовать TL), форму (чтобы знать, как писать и как использовать слово, как грамматически строить фразы) и произношение.
F/b – feedback
На CELTA учат давать feedback, обратную связь, после каждого задания, будь то диалог, задание на выставление пропусков, roleplay и так далее. При этом надо дать feedback on the content, по содержанию сказанного/написанного и feedback on the language, по использованной языку.
Drilling используется для демонстрации правильной модели произношения target Language, TL, артикуляции, ударении, features of connected speech. В repetition drilling студенты слушают и повторяют. Если фраза длинная то используется backchaining drilling, т.е. учитель начинает с самого последнего слова и увеличивает количество слов, добавляя по одному-два каждый раз, когда ученики успешно произнесли предыдущие. Substitution drill используется, когда учитель хочет, чтобы студенты заменили отдельные части предложения, сохраняя при этом форму слова/лексической или грамматической конструкции. Эта техника не только создает условия для практики (controlled practice = CP), но и дает возможность проверить насколько хорошо и правильно студенты поняли значение слова/лексической или грамматической конструкции.
Scaffolding
Scaffolding подразумевает предоставление помощи ученикам в усвоения языка: pre-teaching новой лексики перед чтением/аудированием, адаптирование инструкций под уровень языка, использование visual aids, предоставление sentence frames и многое другое.
Если взглянуть на программу курса, то можно увидеть, что знание терминологии необходимо не только для составления планов уроков, но и для активного участия в input sessions (методологические семинары). Каждая неделя будет начинаться с «Basic concepts and terminology used in ELT …», например, «Basic concepts and terminology used for describing reading/speaking/listening/writing skills» и «Basic concepts and terminology used in ELT to discuss language form and use».
